Depicted in an interior publicity shot, this photograph was taken by Nelson Evans (Evans Studio) of Los Angeles. It was signed in white ink by Antrim Short ("Sincerely - Antrim Short") and is in very fine condition.
*"Antrim Short was born on July 11, 1900 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as Mark Antrim Short. He was a juvenile lead in silent films with the Biograph Company from 1912. Later, he was known for Tom Sawyer (1917), The Flirt (1916), and Huck and Tom (1918). He was married to Frances Morris; the brother of actresses Gertrude Short and Florence Short; the son of actor Lew Short and actress Estelle Short; and a cousin of actress Blanche Sweet. Short was a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild. After being reduced to playing bit parts in talkies, he became a casting director for Goldwyn, Republic, and Universal and established his own talent agency in 1947.
