Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US lobby card from the 1920's silent film western, EYES OF THE FOREST, released in 1923 by the Fox Film Corporation and directed by Lambert Hillyer. 
 
The image features a dramatic indoor scene of forest ranger Bruce Thornton (Tom Mix) bound by his wrists inside of a cabin as another man pulls on the rope. The film's antagonist, Horgan (Sid Jordan), holds him at gunpoint while Horgan's wife, Ruth (Pauline Starke) watches with concern for Mix. It is unrestored in fine+ condition.

*"An item in the 26 Sep 1923 Film Daily reported that director Lambert Hillyer had gone missing over the previous week after taking a combined vacation and business trip to a mountainous region of California. Fox Film Co. officials were particularly concerned as Hillyer was scheduled to begin work on the next starring vehicle for Tom Mix, Eyes of the Forest. Ten days later, a production chart in the 6 Oct 1923 Camera indicated that Hillyer had survived his ordeal and already completed two weeks of principal photography at Fox Studios in Hollywood, CA. According to the 12 Jan 1924 Exhibitors Trade Review, Mix was injured on set by the “premature explosion” of a dynamite charge. Production was delayed until the actor had adequately recovered. According to charts in the 3 Nov 1923 and 10 Nov 1923 issues of Camera, production was completed over a six-week period."
 
Bruce Thornton, a forest ranger, arrests Ruth Melier, who is accused of murdering her stepfather. However, Ruth reveals that her brutal husband, Horgan, is the murderer. Bruce and a fellow ranger capture Horgan and his gang of timber thieves, establishing Ruth's innocence.
