*"The Huntress is a 1923 American drama film directed by Lynn Reynolds and written by Percy Heath. It is based on the 1922 novel The Huntress by Hulbert Footner. The film stars Colleen Moore, Lloyd Hughes, Russell Simpson, Walter Long, C.E. Anderson, and Snitz Edwards. The film was released on August 20, 1923, by Associated First National Pictures.

This was the first of five films, in three years, with Moore and Hughes starring in the lead roles. They also appeared together in Sally (1925), The Desert Flower (1925), Irene (1926), and Ella Cinders (1926). With no prints of The Huntress located in any film archives, it is a lost film."

*"The Jul 1923 AmCin reported that exteriors for The Huntress were filmed in Bishop, CA. In a monthly column called "A Letter from Location" in the Oct 1923 Picture-Play, actress Colleen Moore more specifically located the production in the snowy High Sierras at Mammoth Lake, CA, where the cast and crew stayed at a mountaineer camp. At one point, in order to change locations, the production had to dynamite the snow drifts blocking the roads. Other mountain locations included Convict Lake, Twin Lakes, and Silver Lake.

Raised by Indians, Bela learns that she was originally a white orphan. She runs away from her Indian village to avoid marrying a brave from the tribe, and meets Sam Gladding, a cook for three prospectors. Sam at first resists Bela's advances, but later falls in love when an Indian sage gives him advice."
